This one is worth a second look because of what the printing does to the surface — fine radial ribbing across the shade, closely spaced, the way gills run underneath a mushroom cap or petals fan from a flower center. At a glance it's a classic cylinder; up close the texture is doing something more specific.

That ribbing controls how light leaves the shade. Rather than a flat wash, the ridges break the output into fine vertical bands that fall across a surface with visible structure. Lit, the shade itself shows the pattern as alternating light and shadow around its circumference.

• Dust with a soft dry cloth or low-pressure air duster, working along the ribbing
• Do not use water, solvents, or chemical cleaners on the printed surface
• Avoid abrasive cloths, which can flatten the fine ribbed texture
• Keep away from heat sources and prolonged direct sunlight
