Large Drum Lamp — Oversized 3D Printed Ribbed Table Lamp

Scale is the argument. A drum shade at standard size is furniture; at this size it's architecture — enough diameter and height to anchor a console, a sideboard, or a wide entry table where a normal lamp gets swallowed by the surface around it.

The ribbing behaves differently when enlarged. Radial ridges run the full width of the shade, and at greater diameter they spread further apart and read as distinct structural lines rather than fine surface texture. You see the pattern from across a room, which is the opposite of how the mini version works.

Lit, those wider ridges break the output into broad vertical bands that fall across a wall with visible structure, and the shade shows the pattern as alternating light and shadow around its full circumference. The effect scales with the object — bigger shadows, longer throw, more presence.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Dust with a soft dry cloth or low-pressure air duster, working along the ribbing
• Do not use water, solvents, or chemical cleaners on the printed surface
• Avoid abrasive cloths, which can flatten the ribbed texture
• Keep away from heat sources and prolonged direct sunlight
• Unplug and let the bulb cool fully before cleaning
• Handle by the base rather than the shade when repositioning
• Two people are advisable when moving it, given the shade diameter

HOW TO STYLE IT

This needs a surface with real depth. A console at least 14 inches deep, a wide sideboard, or an entry table — anywhere the shade can sit without overhanging the edge. On a standard nightstand it will dominate the surface and block the drawer.

Position it clear of a wall so the vertical banding has room to land. In a corner it casts onto two planes at once, which at this scale fills a substantial amount of wall.

Because it reads from a distance, this is the Drum that works as a room-level object rather than a close-viewing one. Put it where it's seen on entry — an entryway console, the far end of a living room, a sideboard visible from a dining table.

Keep the surrounding surface clear. At this scale it doesn't need supporting objects, and adding them crowds it.
